Blind Sunrise Over Monterey Bay...

I awake to the sound of waves lapping the shore just outside the open glass door leading out onto the veranda.

The light spills in from floor to ceiling windows overlooking Monterey Bay. I open my eyes to see a fuzzy montage of vague forms and fuzzy shapes, all drenched in an early morning orange glow. Though I really can't see it, I know that for the next few minutes there will be a breathtaking sunrise over the bay. With no time to put in my contact lenses to compensate for my "high axial myopia" (meaning - functionally blind until I put on contact lenses), I stumble out of bed, reach for the dark shape at the spot where I last remember putting my camera, move cautiously out onto the verandah., set the camera to "auto", point the camera toward the light, and place my trust in auto-focus.

This is the result. A blind sunrise over Monterey Bay.
