Ecosummer Expeditions

Specializing in birding tours with between 100 to 140 destinations annually

Sierra Club Outings Department-
Specializing in membership-based wilderness trips. A recent featured trip is a week-long, rim-to-rim family backpack around the Grand Canyon.

Maho Bay Camps, St. John Virgin Islands -
A pioneer in small scale, tent-based ecotoursim. Magnificent views of a pristine Caribbean cove, kayaking, snorkeling, etc.

Turtle Island, Fiji -
Paradise does not always come cheap. This exclusive eco-resort has rates that start at $1,090 per couple per day. Turtle Island uses local inhabitants for work crews and staff, and also supports a program to bring in teams of international doctors to treat the rampant diabetes and cataracts among the native population. Turtle Island also works closely with Rivers Fiji, which operates kayak-based tours and also employee local guides.

Binna Burra Mountain Lodge, Australia -
One of Australia's first nature-based resorts. Green Globe and NEAP (Nature and Ecotourism Accreditation Program) certified.

La Milpa Field Station, Belize -
Three miles form ancient Mayan tombs, the facility is home to two archaeological projects. Nine nature trails, three of them interpreted provide access to the abundant flora and fauna of Belize.

Phinda, South Africa-
A good place to start you exploration of South Africa. The Mountain and Forest Lodges offer access to several distinct ecosystems.

Saint Lucia, Caribbean -
Located in the eastern Caribbean, Saint Lucia has created a network of nature trails with the strategy to protect forest reserves by creating economic incentives for local people.

Kuyima, Mexico -
An outfitter in San Ignacio Lagoon in Baja California Sur, Mexico, Kuyima is owned and operated by local people within the El Vizcaino Biosphere Reserve. Kuyima shows how tourist development and conservation can work hand in hand.
