Welcome to the February 2005 issue of The Traveler!

Can you feel it in the air? Perhaps just a light wisp of sweet fragrance riding on the cool breeze? A little more warmth from the noonday sun? That's right! The seasons are changing and for those in the northern climes, spring is just around the corner!

What's that you say? You look out your window and see barren trees and a blanket of snow? Well, then, never mind. Just have faith that spring will come, as it always does. And for our friends downunder (and we're lucky to have a lot of friends from south of the equator) it's autumn that is approaching. Frankly, we're just a little jealous. Sure, we love to see the end of winter just as much as the next guy, but deep down we know that autumn is our favorite time of year.

Whatever the season, there is a world out there to explore. We help you with that right here, starting with our feature articles. This month we start with a bit of a medieval flair from regular contributor Amanda Kendle's Castles, Counts and Leaky Coffins:Bojnice Castle, Central Slovakia.
We keep that old Europe flavor going with Jacy Meyer's Stumbling Along: England's Old Sarum.
Rounding out the feature articles this month is The Traveler himself as he reprises his tale of the search for the perfect martini in a tropical climate; (here's a hint, there is no such thing).

Next is our Travel Writing Pick-of-the-Month. This month we have on tap our annual "Best of" series with The Best American Travel Writing for 2004. This year's edition is particularly good and features an introduction by Pico Iyer. Make sure to get your copy!

Finally, we present a full offering of Travel Ideas, Resources, and Bargains for you to explore the world on your own and plan your next adventures.

So until next month - when we'll be getting ready for our third adventure on the island of Kauai (yes, it is a tough job, but somebody's gotta do it)...
