Traveler's Tales, Adventure, Ideas & Resources,
and musings from The Traveler... The adventure awaits... April 2006 * 04/28/06 |
Welcome to the April issue of The Traveler It's been a rainy spring so far at The Traveler's offices in downtown San Francisco, but we managed to dodge some of the rain with eleven days on the Big Island of Hawaii. Of course, the islands have had enough rain to drown a horse - literally in some cases we'd imagine. Fortunately, The Traveler was able to avoid all but the finest mists in the rainforests and lava craters of Volcanoes National Park, and that's just the way we like it. You can read more about The Travelers latest adventures to the islands at The Traveler Blog. But we've got work to do, so we're back in the office to prepare the latest in travel adventures from around the world. And it's adventure that we've got with our April feature articles! Some adventures are born of necessity, like Susan Stephenson'sRocky Mountain Hi. Others are discovered, like Keith Kellet's Madrid Bus Ride. Still others are brought on ourselves, as with Cherie Thiessen's Patagonia Passage. In all cases, our veteran writers let us enjoy their adventures from the comfort of a comfortable chair. The Travel Writing Pick-of-the-Month for April is another ideal solution for the armchair adventurer. From exotic tropical jungles to living on the high seas and in remote villages strewn across the globe, you'll see it through the eyes of a man who lived it and who always knows how to tell a great story. Spring is here and for now the rain has stopped. It's when The Traveler's thoughts turn to warmer days and a world to explore. We've got our latest travel resources, ideas, and bargains to help turn those thoughts into reality! Enjoy! Feature Articles Rocky Mountain Hi Madrid Bus Ride Patagonia Passage Travel Writing Pick-Of-The-Month Eric Hansen has spent a lifetime doing what most of us only dream of: traveling the world in search of adventure and enlightenment. His witty and expressive prose bring it all out in this sagacious, insightful, sometimes poignant, and always fun collection of travel essays. Hansen is a master storyteller. The Traveler took this book along with him to the Big Island, not sure what to expect. He was pleasantly surprised and found it hard to but the book down.
